I’m a sociologist, ethnographer, somatic facilitator and writer. I love understanding people, patterns & behaviour, and translating what I learn into something tangible, actionable & deeply felt.
My primary devotion is to women, because I believe humankind stands at the cusp of an inevitable initiation that asks us to meet ourselves and one another in a new way - one that will only be possible if women are whole, integrated & dropped into our bodies. In 2021, I founded Hollow Reeds, a series of sisterhood circles devoted to repatterning the ways women relate to one another and themselves. It was in those circles that I knew I was here to be part of the initiation through any path of deep, true service available to me, and my mission crystallised: to illuminate and transform relational realities through research that’s sensorial, accessible & alive.
Hollow Reeds was the seed for my original research in the Department of Sociology at the University of British Columbia. I took a risk and intentionally wrote for a public audience beyond academia. That choice shaped the trajectory of my work, and taught me that rigorous research can also be deeply human, accessible and relationally transformative. In 2023, I published Unsmothering Girlhood: The Social Geometry of the Sisterhood Wound, which introduced the first scholarly definition of the sisterhood wound to the field and was later recognised by the Canadian Sociological Association.
By identifying the mythologies that keep us captive, I seek out experiences that have lived unnamed and unarticulated, bringing light and language to what is felt but not understood. Through sensemaking, storytelling, and somatic gathering, we move these experiences from the unconscious into awareness, from the analytical mind into the body, and from isolation into relationship.
