OUR STORYIf you were raised to believe that women were inherently mean and catty, you’re not alone - the rituals of relational starvation start early.
In high school, it seemed that we only knew how to gather with our backs to the outside world in circles that felt hollow and void, hazed with Victoria’s Secret body spray and a cavernous hunger to be loved and seen by one another that we were careful never to let on.
By the time I reached womanhood, I was fed up with emaciated relationships with other girls. It was then that the vision for a different kind of circle began to form - one that was regenerating, rehumanising, and for the first time, truly nourishing.
Even as a researcher, I initially wasn’t approaching this as a research question at all. I just wanted to feel what could be possible if women gathered with the sole purpose of seeing the light in one another as the living reflection of our own.
One October night in 2021, Hollow Reeds was born.
It was there, on the century-old hardwood floors of my college bedroom, that we first did what has been done by generations of women before us: invent the language we needed to heal.
Since then, I have held dozens of circles with women from all walks of life and regions of the globe, all working to initiate themselves & the world into a new relational reality. I went on to conduct award-winning original research with real women which introduced the first scholarly definition of the sisterhood wound to the field and put words to what we had never had language for before. In 2023, I published my first book, Unsmothering Girlhood: The Social Geometry of the Sisterhood Wound.
Hollow Reeds is for you if…
-
Calling all precious deep feelers and sensitive souls! Through the gift of your strong attunement, you feel the inflection point we're at as a humanity, and you know you have something to contribute to this collective initiation.
This is such a charged time in humanity’s evolution. Hollow Reeds is a gathering point for all of us who know we have Something to Do here. Something to birth. It is a place for all of us who feel the grief, but also know the opportunity, and who choose over and over again to stay in devotion to hope.
-
You are calling in sisters - loving witnesses, mirrors to your light. You know intuitively that there is an ancient and persuasive power that's stirred up when women gather in sisterhood.
Hollow Reeds is deeply rooted in a theory + practice of sisterhood that rewrites the permissions of how we gather. When the language doesn’t exist, we create it. We see relational scarcity as a distortion and unity as our baseline.
Together, each circle cultivates an embodied, agentic & medicinal sisterhood that asks only for our presence, curiosity & remembrance of who we really are.
-
You’re unsubscribing from the fantasies imprinted on the feminine and unfurling into the full spectrum human being you came here to be.
Within Hollow Reeds, we believe that actions in this timeline ripple backwards & forwards across our generational lines. We see this as courageous, liberating, life giving work that we are not meant to do alone.
-
The experiences, the felt sensations, the subtleties of existence - within Hollow Reeds, we treat it all as data to alchemise into fertiliser at the feet of who we each came here to be.
You don’t need to identify as an artist or fit into any preconceived mold of 'creativity.’ All you need is your curiosity and a willingness to digest this one wild and precious life.
-
Your soul has grown weary of spaces that feel like a thin gauze - unsubstantial and unboundaried.
I feel you sister. I’ve done the whole flaky, love and light, spiritual bypassing thing. It doesn’t stick. At best, it’s well-meaning but cavernously shallow. At worst, it’s just another method of power & control in a society that demands our subservience.
Hollow Reeds blends sociology and feminist theory, neuroscience, Baha’i & interfaith teachings, poetry and psychosomatic practice for a circle with true containment - grounded, holistic & trauma informed.
If you feel the call, trust it."I've never been to a circle before...what should I expect?"
OUR FLOWWithin Hollow Reeds, everything is an invitation, always. You have full sovereignty to move from a place that resonates with you - know that you can pass at any time & that you will be held in this space all the same.
꩜ Opening the container: a gentle landingWe open slowly by investigating any preconceptions we might hold of the space, of one another, of ourselves. This is an opportunity to grant ourselves the compassionate permission slip to embody the present moment without the need to fulfil any prior version of who we’ve been.
꩜ Grounding into a themeEach circle is centered on a theme that guides our collective exploration. We begin to focus our creative energy through story-led research dives, poetry and offerings of interfaith spiritual teachings.
꩜ Somatic experiencing & embodimentThrough facilitated meditation, visualisation, movement and/or somatic release, we descend, drop in and begin to install these new codes in the body.
꩜ Sisterhood in practice: bearing loving witnessAn opportunity to bear loving witness and be lovingly witnessed in return - to share your truth, to muse out loud, to gift us with a drop of your ocean. Guided loosely by prompts, but always an open field.
꩜ Sealing the circleWe end every circle with the open, undogmatic invitation to speak a prayer out loud - a calling, a voicing of gratitude, a desire from your heart - allowing it to be amplified before we close out the container. <3
Hollow Reeds asks:
꩜
What fantasies & limitations about who we are & how we relate have we been unconsciously subscribing to? What else is possible?
꩜
What feels dense or dissonant right now, and how can we collectively alchemise it to be of service?
꩜
Who could we be (for ourselves, for each other, for the world) if we returned to the truth of our unity?

“The ethos of Hollow Reeds has become integrated into how I build relationship - with myself and with others. Learning to be curious, receptive, compassionate as deep learnings arise within and are witnessed in others. Letting myself be held in ways I didn’t know I needed, speaking life and communion into feelings I thought I was navigating alone…I see Hollow Reeds not only as an investment into self, but learning how to reprogram how we view, shape, and change the foundations of society.”
